Install
Two layers, one product.
PureGuard works in two stacking layers. Most people start with Layer 1 because it’s easier and covers more devices.
Layer 1 — recommended first
Cover every device on your Wi-Fi
One profile install on iPhone, or one DNS change on your home router, covers every TV, tablet, phone, and console on your network. Easiest install we have.
Set up DNS →
Layer 2 — per-device apps
AI scanner inside browsers & apps
Catches the suggestive ads on Instagram or X that slip past DNS (because they’re served from the same domain as legitimate content). Browser extension + native apps below.

Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Arc
Chrome blocks one-click installs from outside the Chrome Web Store. Until we’re listed there (in the next few weeks), the install is two taps:
-
1
Download the extension
Download PureGuard.zip (~1.7 MB)Unzip it after it downloads — you’ll get a folder called
pureguard-extension. -
2
Open the extensions page
In your address bar, type
chrome://extensionsand hit enter. (For Edge useedge://extensions, Brave usebrave://extensions, Arc usearc://extensions.) -
3
Turn on Developer mode
Toggle the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner of the page.
-
4
Click "Load unpacked" and pick the folder
Click the Load unpacked button (top-left) and select the
pureguard-extensionfolder you unzipped.
Firefox
Firefox makes this clean. We’re publishing the signed extension to Mozilla’s store right now. Until that lists, here’s the temporary path:
- 1. Open
about:debuggingin Firefox. - 2. Click This Firefox on the left.
- 3. Click Load Temporary Add-on and pick
manifest.jsonfrom the unzipped folder.
Temporary add-ons clear when Firefox restarts. We’ll move to the permanent signed version (one click, persists across restarts) the day Mozilla approves the listing — usually within a week.
Download PureGuard.zipiPhone & iPad
Two paths on iOS. The native PureGuard Browser app is in the App Store review queue right now — once it ships, that’s the recommended path. Until then, the home-screen web app gives you the same filtered browsing experience:
Use today: PureGuard as a web app
- 1. Open Safari (must be Safari, not Chrome) and visit pureguard.ai.
- 2. Tap the Share button (square with up-arrow).
- 3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- 4. Tap Add. PureGuard appears on your home screen like an app.
The home-screen version filters everything inside the PureGuard browser. It does NOT filter the native Instagram or TikTok app — Apple doesn’t allow any app to read another app’s screen. The native PureGuard Browser handles this by giving you a filtered version of Instagram/TikTok/X/Reddit inside our own shell.
Coming soon: native app from the App Store
When the App Store approval lands you’ll get a one-tap install just like any other app. Drop your email on the waitlist and we’ll notify you the day it’s live.
Android
Direct download — no Play Store needed. We’re still building the signed APK; it ships in the next couple days. Drop your email on the waitlist and we’ll send you the download link the moment it’s ready.
When it lands, the install is three taps: tap the download link from this page on your Android phone, tap the file, allow Chrome to install apps from this source one time, then PureGuard installs.
Mac, Windows, and Linux
Native desktop app with system-wide DNS filter and tamper resistance. Building right now — expected this week.
- macOS: .dmg, drag to Applications, open. Apple-signed and notarized so no scary warnings.
- Windows: .msi installer, double-click. Click through the SmartScreen warning the first time.
- Linux: .AppImage (universal) or .deb (Ubuntu/Debian).
Drop your email on the waitlist for your platform — we’ll send the link directly.
Safari (Mac & iPad)
Safari extensions distribute exclusively through the Mac App Store. PureGuard for Safari is in the App Store review queue. Until it’s live, on Mac you can use Chrome / Brave / Arc with our extension; on iPad, the home-screen web app described in the iPhone section works.
